Snow Day-I Hope Winter Is Over

My car has sat in my driveway for two days now without moving. It has snow piled up about two inches. I really thought it wasn't going to snow this year. It made it until almost March. I am so gad I don't live in one of those states where it snows all winter. I guess you might get used to it but don't know if I ever could.

I know kids in places where it snows all the time go to school. I guess they just know how to handle it better. I know kids were out of school around here two or three days. I know my daughter was not able to get to her job a few days this week.

I have a pen pal in Michigan and it snows a lot there. She gets around where she needs to go. The roads get cleared better I guess. Sometimes her neighbor has to come shovel her porch where she can even get out her front door. She fell down going to her car one day and was bruised for several days. I have to be very careful going outside with snow or ice since I have osteoporosis because a broken toe is enough to be broken right now.

Yesterday I stayed in my PJ's all day. When I do that though I get lazy and don't do a thing all day. I lay in bed a lot. I watched TV and read. Last night we had Taco Bueno. Guy thinks his Jeep will go anywhere so he delivered for us. He has one of the Jeeps(Wrangler) that looks like a real Jeep and acts like one..

Today I did get dressed but I still didn't get much done. I watched all of those Good Witch shows on Hallmark. Then they had one tonight that was the starting of a series every Saturday. It was very good. James Denton that was in Desperate Housewife's was in it as well as Katherine Bell. Good show.

I didn't cook again. Guy went and got me a mini burger at Sonic. That with a piece of Lemon cake was enough for me. He cooked him a steak. I am not a steak person. I hardly eat meat. If I do it is tuna, salmon or fish. I do like hamburger or meat loaf. And don't forget Hot Dogs. Come to think of it I do eat quiet a bit of meats. I like BBQ too. Just not steak or pork chops.

I am hoping tomorrow the snow melts a lot more. I am ready to get out of the house and go somewhere, anywhere.....

I Seen Kelly O'Connell Today!

I had to go to the Imaging Center today which is on Pennsylvania Ave. I had stubbed my toe on a box and then my doctor thought I might have osteoporosis so they done a bone density test of my spine. After I got all of that done and they told me my toe was fractured I decided to drive down some of the streets in that area. There was some big two story houses and  a lot of them have been made into law offices or doctors offices.

As I was driving I went down by the Old Neighborhood Grill and I saw these two ladies go in. I could have sworn that was Kelly O'Connell and Keisha going in for lunch. They looked just like I have imagined them in my mind. It seems like they are my friends I have heard so much about them. They are actually in a mystery book but not just one. It is a series of books and I feel like I know these ladies.

Right now I am reading the latest of the series which is called "Deception in Strange Places." I had just read a couple of chapters last night. Then when I was in that area on the South side of Fort Worth and I seen them going in the Old Neighborhood Grill I knew without a doubt that was them. Sometimes you just know.

I drove around a few more blocks. Thinking about Kelly O'Connell having a real estate office. Keisha worked for her. I have always had a fascination for older houses and in this district they have a lot of older homes. I love redoing houses and Kelly kind of likes doing that too. As well as sell real estate. That has always been an interesting occupation I think. And then she always ends up in the middle of a mystery.

I have loved mysteries all my life. Shows on TV that are mysteries. Especially the Hallmark channel that has mystery movies on weekends. Then I have all kinds of books that are mysteries. Give me a good mystery book and I am happy as I can be. To see these ladies today really made my day although I know they are just in the story. But I can dream can't I?

The Older I Get the More Cold Natured I Get.

It is so cold out today and sounds like it might be that way all week.  I swear every year I am more cold natured than I was the year before. Of course it doesn't help matters any by being so small. I can't help that either. I have been small all my life. At least I can eat anything I want. My sister was smaller than me and my brother is slender too.  I think we got that after my Granddaddy on my Mom's side. He was a very small slender man.

Today I didn't go out anywhere. Too cold and icy for me. I have a dentist appointment for tomorrow I had to cancel because I heard it will be just as bad tomorrow. Wednesday I have an X Ray appointment for this broke toe I have plus a density bone test too. I may have to cancel that. I heard it might snow on Wednesday.

I thought we might actually go all winter without any ice or snow. Guess we were not that lucky. It is almost March though. I did go all winter so far without getting a cold or flu. That is amazing! I usually get something from my grandkids. I had the flu last year. It has been colder this year too.

Today I had the fireplace going plus my central heat going and it was still cold to me. Sometimes I just go and live in my bedroom for awhile because it is warmer in there than anywhere else. Take my laptop and the book I am currently reading on. And just hibernate in there.

The new room we made out of the garage is the coldest room. I guess because of all the windows. I have three sets of French doors and two other big windows. My son made that room for me and it has two vents in it plus an electric fireplace. I don't use that fireplace much because it really runs up my electric bill . I am total electric.

After this cold spell this week maybe we wont have many more days like this. Next week will be March. I can hardly wait until spring is here.

My Middle Toe is Broke

It sure does smart when you run into something with your toe in the dark. You wouldn't think it would cause all the damage it did. I was going into my office about 6 am and couldn't see too well. I didn't expect a box to be in my way. Guy had moved some boxes that I had just got from UPS. Trundle bed for the grand kids. He was needing to open a closet door to get a jacket. Of course being a man he couldn't put them back where they were.

I was walking in my office and my toe came in contact with a hard box. My middle toe. I didn't know anything could hurt that bad. It hurt really bad for about an hour. As time passed it started swelling and then the top of my foot as well as my toe turned black and blue. It kept spreading. It wouldn't wiggle at all so I figure it is broken.

I went to the doctor. She said if it was broken and she was sure it was there really wasn't much they could do. She told me to go get an X Ray but I did not want to go to Rosedale which was a ways from where I live. Just for them to charge me $30 even with insurance and lay on a hard table getting another X Ray of my foot. And for what reason if it didn't help anyway to get it. So I didn't.

It is gradually getting better but it sure does hurt when I put a shoe on or walk a long ways. You never know until something like this happens how nice it is to be able to walk without pain. So afraid someone is going to step on it. That would hurt.

I am hoping tomorrow it will be a lot better but if not I will hobble along the best I can..

Busy Day Today

My day started out today with going to the donut shop in my PJ'S where I got a sausage roll and a chocolate donut. I don't usually eat much breakfast but I thought for a change I will. I enjoyed it very much. If you do it everyday it gets to be an every day occurrence . If you do it just every now and then it is a treat.

After getting dressed I went over to Jana's which is only a few blocks from my house. I talked to her awhile then off to Wal Mart I went to buy some food for the rest of the week. That is one chore I hate. I usually spend more than I plan too. I really need some new ideas on food. I am not  a meat eater. I am happy with  a pimento cheese or tuna sandwich. I am simple and cheap. Guy likes his meat though so I got him a rib eye and pork chops.

On the way home I stopped at Sonic and got me the very small hamburger with cherry limeade to drink. I sat at Sonic and ate it. After leaving there I stopped at Home Depot. I looked at the stainless steel French door fridges. I plan on getting one soon. That has been on my wish list for a long time.

I went home after that and Jana came over with Kaylee after she got  out of the dentist. Jana said she kept saying," I want to go to Ma's house". All my grand kids call me Ma. My grand daughter Tiffany started that. She is 24 now. She couldn't say Grandma when she was small so she said Ma. It stuck. Kaylee is only 3 but she calls me Ma.

When Jana started to leave to pick up the boys Kaylee says she wants to stay at Ma's house still. I told Jana she could and we would bring her home when we left to go eat. When we got ready to go eat we took Kaylee by home. We had to wait on them just a little while. They had went to Home Depot.

We went to Spring Creek Barbeque to eat. I love their hot rolls. They bring them to the table really hot. I usually get sausage with beans and potato salad. That is one of my favorite places to eat. I haven't been to a lot of places here in Fort Worth. I guess I hate to try new places. Afraid I might not like them. Spring Creek and Jason's are my favorite places. I also like Golden Corral cause I like a variety of things to choose from.

Now I am home. I put on my Sponge Bob PJ'S. Writing my blog and then I will read on "The Cinderella Murder" by Mary Higgins Clark & Alafair Burke. I got it for Christmas. Pretty good book. I love mysteries. I am perfectly content to sit around reading every night before I go to bed. I am always on a book. I wouldn't know what to think if I didn't have a book I was reading on.

Friday Night Fun

Kaylee and Kaiden (my grandkids) are spending the night with me tonight. That is the oldest at 11 and the youngest at 3. Kaylee and I are sitting on the bed watching" Full House". I have not seen that show in ages. When Jana was small we watched it a lot. I have always liked shows that have big families. I guess because I had a large family and still can't get used to not being anyone here .

I fixed them a dinner of chicken with broccoli  , mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans. Kaiden is a picky eater and usually wont eat any vegetables. Jana said he probably wouldn't eat the chicken because it had broccoli on it. I cut him the end pieces and scooped the broccoli out of it. He ate that and he had mashed potatoes. Kaylee ate a few bites and wanted a sherbet ice cream cone. Of course she got it.

We are fixing to put our night clothes on now and lie in bed and watch TV and read. Kaiden is on the computer of course. Kaylee likes to get on my bed. I have to have a step stool to get on my bed. I always worry she will fall off the bed. When she sleeps with me she turns cross ways in the bed usually. That don't make for very good sleeping.

In the morning I am going to try and make bisquits to go with this leftover gravy. I am not good making any kind of bread or pie crust but I am going to try. I love homemade bread with lots of butter.

They will be staying until tomorrow afternoon. Jana went out of town. Lunch will be peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or grilled cheese. Whichever one they prefer.

I got all the meals planned out. Now it is time to relax and watch TV or read and then we will go night night.

I Can If I Have Too!

Everybody that knows me knows that I am not good with electronic stuff. That includes TV'S and Computers or Kindles or anything else I might have. I usually have to get my daughter Jana to come and help me with all of that. Thank goodness she only lives a few blocks away. I wouldn't even know how to turn on a computer if it wasn't for her.

I got a new computer for Christmas and she set it up for me, put a virus protector on for me. It took a long time to transfer pictures and documents over from the old one. She patiently done that for me. I help her too in different ways .

Yesterday I ask her to come over as I had several things I couldn't do. This thing on my computer kept popping up to put in code numbers instead of a password. It was just annoying though. Sometimes it would pop up when you didn't even need a password. She took that off for me. She put the virus protector on for me. Another thing was popping up about a driver so she took that off for me.

Then there were some things I couldn't fix on my TV. My DVD player needed hooked up to the TV. It hadn't been hooked up since I came back from Sweetwater. The cord wasn't on it so we couldn't do that. I would have to find that today. I have Dish and not used to it so I had some things recording every day that I did not want recorded. I also wanted closed caption on where if I don't hear everything I can at least read it. She went into menus but she couldn't find how to do those things.

This morning we were going to go to Target and do a little shopping. While I was waiting on her to come I found the book to Dish.  I found where it describes what you do to fix things never dreaming I could do it. I found in the Table of Contents how to record for the DVR. AHA! It said deleting a timer. It looked pretty simple. It said to press the Menu button and then select Daily Schedule. Select Timers and then Edit List. Select the timers  to delete. Delete them! That was simple!


I was getting braver now. I looked up Closed Captioning. You had to go to Menu for that too. It said to select Preferences and then Closed Captioning. Turn it off or on. Then select done. Then you just select your display options. Your Caption Font and Size. Your Caption Colors. Caption Edge Style. Captioning Service. Caption Opacity. It took a little bit of trying different fonts and colors. When Jana came to pick me up to go to Target she helped me find a better Font. But I had most of it. I am so proud of my self! I can do it if I just set my mind to it.

I went into the bedroom awhile ago and I was going to watch Melissa and Joey and the TV wouldn't come on. I will have to get Jana over here tomorrow! I have no idea what is wrong!
