No More Kidney Stones.

I never ever want another kidney stone in this lifetime. I would rather have triplets! I would rather go thru anything that I can think of. It is like a nightmare ever time I think about it.

I went to the Urology Associates here a few weeks ago to get a KUB. That is an X Ray of my bladder and kidneys . I was holding my breath everything would be okay with that test. It had been a couple of months since the stent had been taken out. When I seen the doctor she said everything was great. I was so relieved.

When I had the first KUB they didn't tell me anything was wrong but you can look on "Follow My Health" online and see what all was said. Some of it I read didn't sound good but they didn't say a word to me about it. It said , " Small calcification is seen in lower pelvis. Represents phlebolith. Bowel gas pattern is diffusely prominent. Consider Ileus. Bones are ostepenic" None of that sounded good. I looked up some of that. It could mean blockage in the intestines.

They said nothing about any of this so I thought maybe they were just waiting until I got the stent out and got over all that. When I had the last X Ray and seen the urologist I ask her. She said that KUB did not show anything wrong at all. She said maybe because of the stent it showed those things but now it didn't show anything wrong. They had said I might have some kidney damage too since the marble size kidney stone was pressed against my kidney. But it said Stage 3 which is moderate reduction of GFK.

My stone was between 5 to 9 mm. That one Urologist said it was golfball size. I think that was kind of an exaggeration. It was marble I heard. It had been there for a long time.

I drink ice water with slices of lemon every day. They say that is the best thing to prevent kidney stones. If you have never had one you don't know what you are missing. You don't want to find out.
The stent is worse than the stone. And when they get ready to take it out they just start pulling through your bladder. That is certainly not fun but at the time you just want to get it out of there. All 18 inches of it.

I am just glad it is all over and hope it never happens again. And please people drink lots of water where yall don't get one!

Springlike Weather Today.

Today was such a very nice day. I know in a few days it will be colder. But at least we have a few good days. I think the older I get the more cold natured I get. Everyone burns up when they come to my house.

Oh well I will be comfortable in my own home. When I go to theirs I have to freeze. So they are allowed to burn up in mine. My son in law had the air on at Christmas. I never seen that before on Christmas. To each his own I guess.

I will be so glad when spring finally gets here. This winter has seemed really long this year. I have been lucky though. I haven't had a cold or flu. I did have a sinus infection and then all those bladder problems I had. That was enough to do me for awhile.

We planted a couple of trees today. One in the front yard and one in the back. It will take them a long time to get big. Will I still be alive? I don't know. I don't know how long it takes for a tree to grow up. I do know there was about four trees when we moved here twelve years ago. There is only one standing now. And every time a storm comes a branch falls off. This is a huge tree but kind of rotten I guess. The other trees we had to have cut down because they were the same way. I guess someone can enjoy these new trees even if it is not me.

When spring gets here my next door neighbor has told me she will help me plant some flowers and fix the yard nice. I do not have a green thumb. She certainly does though. She has made her yard look really nice. Some people are just gifted that way.

I lived in a house about 16 years ago I guess that had a really nice yard. It was just a rent house. But there was a deck in the back and wildflowers and a pond. I always said I want my yard to look like that one. So far it hasn't happened. Maybe this is the year.

Elvis is 80 today

It is almost unbelievable that Elvis would be 80 today. I remember when we were living out Longworth and my sister went to see him with her friend, Janyce at the Sweetwater auditorium. She was 17, I was 12 so I couldn't go.  That was in 1957. He was just starting out at that time. My sister Janice told me after she got home that her and Janyce went in the back and he picked her up and swung her in the air(She only weighed 89 lbs.) then he kissed her. He wrote his autograph on Janyce's hand and she swore she would never wash her hands again.

All my growing up years I kept up with Elvis and even in my 20's and 30's. He was in Abilene the year before he died and I wanted to go see him so bad but again I didn't get too. If I had of known that was my last chance I would have went somehow.

That day on August the 16th I was just kind of listening to the TV when they stopped the program to say, "Elvis has died." I started crying and thinking no this can't be true. But as the day went on I found out he had died that morning. My friend Kathy and I talked about going to his funeral but we couldn't. I did watch it on TV.

Still after 38 years Elvis has not been forgotten. At Christmas I play his song "Blue Christmas." I love that song. Another one I love is "Crying in the Chapel" and "Amazing Grace."

I finally got to go to Graceland nine years ago. I had went to West Virginia and on the way back we stopped there. In the house it was back in the 60's. I could just imagine him in that kitchen making him a peanut butter and banana sandwich. When we went out in the back where he was buried along with the rest of the family tears poured down my face. Forty two was way too young to die.

Today on his 80th birthday I watched two of his movies. "Roustabout" and "Blue Hawaii." I may watch another one before I go to sleep.
